Allright, everyone. I'm back. I'm really sorry it took me awhile to update: but my brother had a wedding last weekend and the whole month has been busy around that. But the wedding's over and I'm movin' on. :)
Oh, and happy 4th to all of you. And my birthday is in a few days. July 8th. :) hehehe. I'm excited. I'll be sweet 16! Sorry - I'm getting sidetrack...
Now when I say "Our hero for this week", do not take it un-literally. For this man IS a hero. He is none other than Superman himself. Please welcome...
BRANDON ROUTH!

BIO:
Full Name: Brandon James Routh Birthday: October 9, 1979 Birth Place: Des Moines, Iowa, USA Height: 6' 2.5" (189 cm) Hair Color: Dark Brown Eye Color: Brown Tidbits
Last name rhymes with south.
Dressed as Clark Kent for Halloween in 2003.
Has three siblings: two sisters and one brother.
Sister Sara podcasts The Monday Show.
Attended the University of Iowa.
In a long-term relationship with actress/producer Courtney Ford
OFFICIAL BIOGRAPHY Although he had relatively few professional credits to his name, handsome and clean-cut actor Brandon Routh soared into the media limelight when he was cast as the Man of Steel in director Bryan Singer’s highly anticipated revival of the original superhero film franchise “Superman Returns” (lensed 2005).
Born Oct. 9, 1979, in Des Moines, Iowa and raised in nearby Norwalk (about 100 miles south of Woolstock, the hometown of TV’s original “Superman,” George Reeves), the strapping 6’2 ½ ‘’ actor-known to his friends and family and sometimes professionally credited as “B.J.”-was a high school athlete who swam and played soccer, as well as starring in several theatrical productions. He attended the University of Iowa for a year before heading to Hollywood in search of his big break.
Routh got his first major role on a 1999 episode of the short-lived ABC sitcom “Odd Man Out,” followed by a four-episode stint on the third season of MTV’s sexually charged nighttime soap “Undressed” in 2000. He also was featured in pop star Christina Aguilera’s heavily rotated “What a Girl Wants” video. Along with an appearance on “Gilmore Girls” in 2000, the actor earned steady work on the ABC daytime drama “One Life to Live,” originating the role of Seth Anderson from 2001-2002. His subsequent primetime credits include guest stints on the CBS crime drama “Cold Case,” the hit NBC sitcom “Will & Grace” and Fox’s brief-lived “Oliver Beene.”
Prior to Routh’s casting as Superman, Warner Bros had spent over a decade developing a plan to relaunch the franchise, with possible stars including Nicolas Cage and planned helmers including Tim Burton, Wolfgang Peterson, McG and Brett Ratner. Initially the studio reportedly considered a roster of name actors for the iconic role, including Josh Hartnett, Ashton Kutcher, Jude Law, Brendan Fraser, Jim Caviezel and “Smallville” star Tom Welling. But when Singer came aboard to direct the film, he insisted that a fresh face be cast in the part in the tradition of film’s most famous Man of Steel, Christopher Reeve.
Routh, then 25—who reportedly won a Hollywood Halloween costume contest in 2003 by dressing as Clark Kent with his shirt open to reveal the Superman “S” underneath—had previously auditioned for McG and was tapped by Singer after extensive casting calls in the U.S., Britain, Canada and Australia. Impressed by his resemblance to the comic book icon and finding the actor’s humble Midwestern roots a perfect fit for the hero’s all-American persona, Singer anointed Routh as the next screen Superman. Within hours of the October 2004 casting announcement Routh’s name filled an endless array of Internet pages devoted to discussing his worthiness for the role. For his part, the actor kept a low profile to help build anticipation for the film.

Personal quotes
[Talking about his work with a movement coach to capture Superman's physical presence]: "We worked on posture. Spine straight, hips forward, neck in line - just a clean motion moving through the world. [On the bright side] I slouch less."
[Talking about wearing the Superman costume]: "Very confining. But once you get past that - which is sometimes hard - it's also very empowering. First time I put it on, I felt... stronger. Like a different level of who I am. It makes playing the character much easier."
[When asked if he's ready for the changes that will follow in his life upon being cast as Superman]: "I have no idea. But I am prepared to be prepared."
"I'm kind of slowly becoming a star. I've kept my sanity. I've learned along the way, all these months that I've been here and slowly doing interviews and the suit picture getting released on the Internet-all this has come very gradual, which has really helped me to get it straight in my head and not go over the top. I know that that's a minuscule amount of exposure that's going to happen. It's going to be all over the place and it's going to become ridiculous at some point. The other thing that I realize is that it's not me so much as the character and the icon of Superman."
"People will like me, I think, because I do a good job in the film, but I also realize that the appeal isn't just me. It's the character. It's the film. It's what Superman stands for and brings to the table. Not just me."
[On being asked if he ever thought playing Superman would be bad for his career]: "No. I mean, I was wary of what being Superman meant to my life, the possibilities of what it might mean, but then I think of all the positives and that kind of takes it all away. There are a lot of negatives to not do it, too."

Our hero this week is:
HAYDEN CHRISTENSEN!
Biography Who is Hayden Christensen? Hayden Christensen is a young Canadian actor who has gone relatively unnoticed in the United States up until the announcement that he was signed as Anakin Skywalker in the next 2 Star Wars prequels. Although the United States has had little exposure to Hayden, he is far from being just a beginner.
Christensen started out as a child actor at the ripe age of 13 in various TV dramas since 1994. His biggest break before Star Wars was being casted in the Fox Family network's "Higher Ground" where Hayden plays Scott Barringer; a character who turned to drugs after being seduced by his stepmother. In "Higher Ground," Hayden plays one of the central characters and gets a lot of exposure.
Anakin Rumors Emerge At the end of April 2000, as readings with Natalie Portman at Skywalker Ranch came to a close, outbreaks of possible Anakins were leaked to the public from different sources and attention seemed to center on a relatively unknown actor named Hayden Christensen. For example, the industry standard news magazine VARIETY stated, "The buzz swirling around Hollywood Wednesday was that the force will be with Hayden Christensen, a young actor whom Lucas is close to naming to play Anakin Skywalker." Also, 4FILMMAKERS (a site for the entertainment industry professional) is jumped the gun and stating, "The role of Anakin Skywalker will be played by Hayden Christensen."

Hesja became Junior World Trampoline Champion and appeared in a commercial, and while tagging along, young Hayden was asked if he'd like to be in commercials. He agreed, and his career began to grow slowly.
As a young teen, Hayden appeared in TV movies such as No Greater Love and on the soap opera Family Passions. In school he impressed teachers with his acting abilities as well as his athletic talent; he played AAA hockey for six years and was named as one of the Top 20 Under 18 in Ontario for tennis (Hayden ended up turning down a college tennis scholarship to act in Star Wars). Other sports he participates in include kayaking, mountain biking, rock climbing, triathlons, soccer, snowboarding and skiing.

Our hero this week is Gerard Butler. Enjoy and don't forget to comment!
BIO:
Full Name: Gerard James Butler
Birthday: November 13, 1969
Birthplace: Glasgow, Scotland
Marital Status: Single and currently unattached
Family: He is the youngest of three children (he has a brother and sister) and spent time the first few years of his life in Canada before returning to Scotland.
Former Occupation: Lawyer (He has a law degree from Glasgow University, where he was also president of the school's law society, but he was fired from his firm one week before qualifying as a lawyer)
Home: His primary residence is in London. He also has a loft in New York City.
Skills: Football (soccer), horse riding, skiing, water skiing. Lead singer in rock band "Speed". Click here for a history on the band.
Awards: Click here for a list of acting awards.
Other Info: He stopped drinking alcohol years ago. He has NEVER been engaged or married (contrary to claims made by some).
How tall is Gerard? He is 6'2".
How old is Gerard? His birthday is November 13, 1969.
What colour are Gerard's eyes? Green most of the time, but can seem blue.
Where does he live? Mostly London, but he also spends time in Los Angeles and New York City, when he's not on location shooting a film or traveling to promote a project or just for fun.
Does he prefer to be called Gerry or Gerard? His professional name is Gerard, but he calls himself Gerry, as do his friends. This quote from the January 11, 2005 Jay Leno appearance pretty much answers this question:
" [in a deep Scottish accent] "GerERD. Your name is GerERD." And, and, but, it's funny, but, I did a magazine interview a few years ago, and they asked me, "What do we call you?" And I said, "Well, you say it just 'Gerry,'" because when Americans say "GerARD," it drives me crazy, when my mum does that. But they got it the wrong way around, and they put it in the magazine that I hated being called Gerry. And so then all my friends are calling me, going, [in a high-pitched, mocking voice] "Ooh, GERard." [audience laughs] And [I said] "I didn't say that! I didn't say that!" "
Can I have his phone number? GB.Net has spoken to him but we do not have his phone number. And if we did, we would not be at liberty to disclose such personal information.
Does Gerard have an e-mail? Yes, but not for the public. Personal messages to GB.Net are discouraged, since we are a fan site, and while we have spoken to Gerard, we aren't his mail service. Message sent to Gerard through our e-mail will automatically be deleted. You can however leave brief messages of thanks on our forum in the Thank You Gerry! section.
Where can I write to Gerard? You can write to him at either of the following addresses:
Mr. Gerard Butler c/o International Creative Management Oxford House 76 Oxford Street London, England W1D 1BS
Read these guidelines for tips on sending fan mail.
If I write to Gerard will he write back? He has been known to answer fan mail and even send a signed picture if requested. Keep in mind though, that he is often filming, and therefore it could take several months to get a reply and unfortunately, not every letter can be answered.
Does Gerard ever visit GB.Net? He has seen the site and message board. He has given us two extensive interviews over the past four years. He, and his reps, check it regularly.
Is he married or single? Gerard is single. He chooses to keep his private life, private. He is pictured with countless women at countless events and he is a friendly guy so just because he is pictured with a woman does not mean he is suddenly dating her. We cannot and will not answer e-mails about his personal life or his tastes in women, because frankly, we don't ask those types of questions since it is none of our business.
Is he gay? NO. We don't care what your gay friends say. We don't care what your straight friends say. The man himself has said he is not gay, and that is good enough for us. End of discussion. Finito. Over. :D
Did he do all his own singing in The Phantom of the Opera? Yes.
What's the story behind the ring and bracelet he always wears? This quote is from our June 2004 interview with Gerard:
" ANSWER: "You know, funnily enough, .the reason I met Tonya [his assistant] was though an ex-girlfriend of mine.who I went out with for a couple of years and she got me [the ring] after two weeks of going out, it freaked me out because it's inscripted 'Dedicated to the one I love.' We were only seeing each other for two weeks and I was like 'wait a minute, wait a minute, are you saying you love me?' She had one from a previous boyfriend. So it was kind of strange that she had one from a previous boyfriend."
The bracelet is just another piece of jewelry that he has had for years and just enjoys wearing. For more specific information on items Gerry has worn, click here.
Does he smoke? Yes, but he continues to strive for the ultimate goal in quitting for good.
What football club does he support?
Yes, he supports The Celtic Football Club.
Is there more information on his band Speed and did ever record anything? The following history was provided by Alan Stuart, founding member of Speed:
Gerry and Alan met in a law firm called Morton Fraser. Gerry was a trainee solicitor and Alan was already a qualified lawyer. Alan had a band called "Speed of Life" with a girl singer called Gill Wood. Gerry wanted to hang out with the band and they became friends. Gerry told Alan he could sing and (after an impromptu audition in a pub toilet) ended up singing backing vocals in that band. They recorded three songs with Gerry doing backing vocals. They had some really wild times with that band until Gill left and they decided to carry on with Gerry singing on his own. You can imagine what a good front man Gerry was, and things began to take off for that band.
The bass player was Kenny Mullen who was at Glasgow University with Gerry and was Secretary of the Law faculty Law Society when Gerry was president. Kenny is a very fine bass player (his dad is a drummer). The drummer was David Watt who is one of Scotland's best drummers. David used to go clubbing with Gerry when they were at University in Glasgow. When Gill left the band they were round at a friends flat (in Edinburgh) who said that there was a guy who played drums living in the flat immediately above. They were looking for a new drummer so they went upstairs and David answered the door. Gerry didn't know that David was living there! And so they got their new drummer.
Gerry was quite wild in those days and you never knew what he was going to do next! The band had a residency during the Edinburgh Festival in the Fringe Club. They were the house band and went on at 1am after comedians like Rich Hall and Greg Proops had finished their acts. They used to pack the place out and rocked it till it shook. People had to dance on tables and chairs because there wasn't enough room. Eventually they had to hire Rock Steady to do the security as things could get a bit "lively".
It was not really a college band at all, and Gerry did make recordings, including the song "Going Down Slow" that was played for Kim during the first GB.Net exclusive fan site interview. Speed played some big gigs including an open air gig in Holyrood Park, Edinburgh to an audience of about 10,000 people.
Speed was a cross between the Doors, the Stones and Sly and the Family Stone. Things however did not work out for Gerry as a lawyer and he left Edinburgh to seek fame and fortune in London, commuting up to Scotland for gigs. When the bass player announced that he too was going to London, that was the end of the band. They had a blast and Alan says he would not have missed it.
The recordings of the band are not available for purchase, but Alan says Gerry was justifiably very proud of his singing.

Originated in Kent, England with Robert St. Leger who was granted estates at Ulcombe and became Lord of the Manor of Ulcombe. The family name Ledger actually comes from the first name of the father of the original bearer. This being one of the ways that family names were formed so that the Ledger family, like others in their community could carry their name with distinction. Studies have found that one of the earliest references to the family name Ledger dates back in history to the year 1192. The colour azure (blue) in the coat of arms of the family Ledger symbolizes strength, loyalty and truth. Coat of Arms: Blue background with a silver fretwork design and a gold stripe at the top and St. Andrew's cross, signifying Resolution. The crest is a gold griffin. Years at GGS: Year 3 (1987) to Year 12 (May 1996)
House: Woodbridge House
Personal achievements: Captain of Drama 1996, School honours for drama, represented School in Rock Eisteddfods, Year 11 house monitor.
Sporting achievements: 1st XI Hockey 1994, 95; represented School in Combined PSA Hockey 1994, 95; State hockey representation 1993, 94 & 95.
During your school days, what was the main factor that pointed you towards an acting career? I guess my determination to beat the odds. I mean a few teachers at school tried at every opportunity to discourage my participation in drama, basically telling me I was wasting my time. That kind of made me angry and determined to prove I could achieve the goals I set for myself.
How have you learned the skills of your profession? I have always been attracted to acting as a profession and have been totally interested in every aspect of it. If you are interested in something and you enjoy it, then learning is easier. I learn from other actors, directors, crew members, camera and sound operators, everyone... it's part of the 'University of Life' open to us all. Staying focused on what you want is absolutely necessary.
What event would you identify as leading to your first significant break into the world of acting in Australia? And was there also such an event you could identify for the US scene for you? Probably the Australian TV series 'Sweat' where I played a young gay Olympic cycling prospect, it was quite a challenging role for the time. My introduction to U.S. audiences was via the Universal-Fox TV series 'Roar' in which I had the lead. The series was short lived, but it did give me excellent exposure in the U.S.
What genre of film will you be looking out for over the next 5 years? Projects which will build a strong personal CV for my future. I need to have a personal 'feel' for the script before I go any further. I read many, but sometimes to my detriment decide not to participate. The ones I do like I'll prepare well for, then put everything into getting the role. There have been some major personal disappointments, but that's very much a part of this life and you must 'steel yourself' and be able to accept rejection and get on with it.
Some Aussie actors have said that the daily schedules of work on Australian sets are much tougher than in America. Have you found this? Work schedules on all projects are much the same however the markets are different. In Australia budgets, time constraints tend to be tighter. It puts greater pressure on cast and crew to perform regardless of weather conditions, location problems or whatever. This translates into a different work tempo. I love the Australian film industry and those sorts of challenges are interesting.
What are you enjoying about American life? I love the vibrant cities and the enthusiasm Americans have.... for America. I like to hang out in Manhattan where it's an easy walk to great theatre, cinema or a Starbuck's coffee house. I could easily make this my base.
Is the Australian film industry achieving more credibility in the US? The Australian film industry has always commanded a great deal of respect. Hey! we produced some of the first movies ever. The Australian Government film initiatives are often discussed by American producers as being innovative. Australia just doesn't have the population base, but it does produce a lot of great talent (actors, producers, directors, writers etc.) for its size.
What is your next major role and what challenges will you face in its portrayal? I play the lead in the modern adaptation of a 14th century piece called 'A Knights Tale '. It has an interesting story line about a jousting troupe. The music is hip and it really hasn't been tried before.. that's the challenge! It will be filmed in Prague for four months beginning early May 2000, again for Colombia Pictures.
Up until now what has been your favourite memory as an actor? There have been many... but probably the most rewarding was being able to get up and keep going after being 'pipped for the lead' in a movie that I wanted and did more than 50 hours of auditioning. I then got the title role in 'The Patriot' with Mel Gibson which comes out in July 2000.
Heath, thank you very much for talking to us. You're welcome. And I hope the OGs' new website goes well. I'll be checking it out regularly.
